An Actor Prepares
Before he starred in Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden, James Dean was an unassuming teenage basketball player living with his Aunt in Fairmount, Indiana. It was only a chance encounter with a drama teacher that set him on the path of the Stanislavskian method, and a shortlived burst of fame.
An Actor Prepares is a feature length screenplay about the early life of James Dean, up to his untimely death behind the wheel of his Porsche. Submitted as secondary coursework for MA in Writing for Film and Television, around the same time as the James Franco biography went into production.
